AVP, Senior AML Compliance Analyst - GFCII Quality Control

The Global Financial Crimes Investigations and Intelligence's (GFCII) mission is to create an integrated approach to the prevention and detection of financial crime by identifying vulnerabilities and mitigating risks to the bank.  Provide appropriate feedback through strategic analysis and leverage synergies across functions to create a holistic view of financial crimes.

The Global Financial Crimes Investigations and Intelligence unit's expanded mission (e.g., Cyber Crime, AB&C, Sanctions, AML, Fraud, Cryptocurrency), high-risk geographies and integrated Cyber Crime/Data Intelligence Function will require a synchronized operational approach across the Financial Crimes umbrella.

The Quality Control (QC) Team conducts a QC evaluation of case reports and supporting documentation used in the investigation to ensure compliance with Global Financial Crimes Investigations and Intelligence (GFCII) minimum standards and to insure consistency among reports and all supporting documentation. The QC evaluation process determines whether internal and external systems were properly used to identify and/or verify a customer's identity, account relationship, transactional activity, public information, any related individuals/entities, and any negative news. The QC process also evaluates whether the reports, supporting documentation and templates are complete.

The Quality Control Analyst will conduct QC reviews for the GFCII Investigative processes and identify (if necessary) GFCII process improvements.

The work performed in this role leads to thorough evaluations of GFCII Investigation Reports and File Cabinets that ensure that data documentation is audit ready and meets GFCII standards that ultimately could lead to recommendations to Citi business units that mitigate AML, regulatory and reputational risks.

The role involves work in strategic development focused on ways to improve the efficiency and quality of our controls and the investigative work product, including timeliness of submissions and decreasing case aging within the control functions.

This role will proactively develop proposals to create more efficiencies within the QC process such as QC Checklist Template enhancements and development of QC guidance documents.

Responsibilities

  • Insures adequacy and completeness of the information utilized and documented in GFCII investigations
  • Manage the verification process of the existence of proper documentation of KYC, Due Diligence and Transactional Activity within GFCII investigation reports
  • Communicate and coordinate work efforts of other Quality Control Analysts with GFCII Investigation Analysts; Resolve discrepancies by using standard procedures                                       
  • Assist in day to day execution of the controls over the investigations processes within the GFCII
  • Assist the GFCII team with ensuring the global investigations process is effectively implemented
  • Conduct QC reviews based upon Global Anti-Money Laundering Investigation Standards and GFCII Procedures
  • Develop Strategic proposals for continual improvements to the GFCII control environment
  • Identify and implement the enhancements required in the QC/Fact Checking process

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years prior work experience in a financial institution with job specific work experience in AML and Financial Crimes
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of laws applicable to money laundering, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), The USA Patriot Act, OFAC requirements, and Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) requirements is a plus
  • Prior experience in examination roles and in depth understanding risk and controls analysis
  • Excellent research, written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Superior attention to detail        
  • Willingness to learn proprietary technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills - Must have the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of Compliance and other stakeholders
  • Able to multitask and complete projects and assignments in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
