A friendly, inclusive specialist school is looking for a Behavioural Support Assistant to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. The pupils have a range of difficulties such as anxiety, learning difficulties and behavioural challenges. The SEMH School is located in a scenic area near Summertown, Oxford and is a full-time position starting ASAP. It is an award winning school with experienced and supportive staff. The pupils range from 5 to 18 and have significant developmental trauma and emotional needs so the successful Behavioural Support Assistant will be supporting each individual's wellbeing and personal development.
The children in this school require a Behavioural Support Assistant who understands their complex needs and is open-minded, resilient and up for a challenge! Graduates who have qualified in Psychology, Counselling or Criminology would therefore be perfect for this! Any experience with children, whether it be youth work, baby sitting or even having a child yourself, would be ideal.
This is an excellent opportunity for the successful Behavioural Support Assistant to work alongside both psychologists, therapists and the SENCO based on-site at school. In this role you will gain first-hand experience with children who have significant needs and learn how to communicate and support them, through the help of trained professionals.
