How you'll make a difference:
In this Data Analyst role, you'll partner with our Merchandising team to analyze product and segment trends, increasing the value of our product mix and offerings. You'll also support ad-hoc analysis across multiple business areas, including site, marketing, sales, stores and fundraising.
This role will work with the rest of the Analytics team to help various parts of Custom Ink gain more insight from the data we have about our customers.
The projects we take on span across the whole company. Recent example projects include:
Reviewing and updating our pricing model, taking into account supply chain changes and competitor landscape
Analyzing product and segment trends across sales channels to optimize our value proposition for customers
Understanding product margins combined with customer potential future value to make recommendations on discounting
You will need to show an understanding of SQL databases and have completed some analytics projects in your current role. This role will report to our Manager of Data Analytics.
What you'll do:
Develop a partnership with Merchandising to understand their needs and provide valuable reporting and insights to help them achieve success with our product offerings
Understand business objectives behind requests and make recommendations to improve their impact
Take learnings from other parts of the business back to the Merchandising team to help contextualize the team's data
Share product and segment insights with other analysts and business areas to facilitate coordination and optimize impact
Stay connected to analysis for all business areas to provide support on a variety of projects as needed
Perform exploratory analysis that results in meaningful insights and recommendations for a broad range of subjects
Demonstrate strong collaboration and analytical business thinking
Bring consistency to metrics used throughout the organization

What we're looking for:
Academic success in an analytically challenging field, such as math, physics, computer science, or economics
3-5 years solving business problems through qualitative & quantitative research, statistical analysis & modeling and strategic planning
Experience performing analysis on large and often incomplete data sets and translating results for consumption by business partners
Expert in Excel
Strong skills in SQL
Previous skills with Tableau, SAS, SPSS or R desired
Demonstrated use of machine learning techniques for business problems
Excellence in statistics, data and analytics, predictive modeling & hypothesis testing
Experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms a plus
Detail oriented - As you would expect, our work often relies on getting many details correct in order to build an accurate view of the bigger picture
Strong communication skills - Strong analysis is a great starting point, but we are also looking for someone who can help connect business partners with the summary and implications of that analysis work.
Empathy for how data can shape how Merchandising teams are working and the ability to determine technology and data needs from business requirements
Agility - ability to juggle multiple ongoing projects and work both collaboratively and autonomously at times
