The Team:

MediaCom are recruiting for an exciting Global Planning Associate Director role that works on the Global Systems Planning Product team developing products for use across MediaCom's broad portfolio of clients. The team manages MediaCom's Planning Operating System that hosts the vast suite of products our people in 125 offices across 100 countries use to service their clients. We are a dynamic, collaborative team responsible for all workstreams supporting and evolving the OS, this includes integrating existing products into the OS as well as developing new products. Our responsibility ranges from initial design of new products and features, through development, rollout, marketing, communications, and ongoing support of our people as they use our products.



The Role: 

The Global Planning Associate Director is the Planning Lead for the team, providing planning expertise to guide our team and users to ensure we realize maximum benefit for our clients from our products.


Planning expertise

  • Plays the role of Planning Subject Matter Expert on the product development team as we constantly evolve existing products and develop new products.
  • Works with our Global Systems Planning Champion community to inspire, educate, and train our people to drive optimal use of the OS and our product suite.
  • Works with our Product and Marketing & Communication leads to keep our people across the network informed.
  • Works with our User Support & Devops Lead to support people using our products.


OS Customisation for Client and Markets

  • Consults and works with Client Team and Market Leads to customise the OS to deliver their specific needs. This will be achieved through understanding Client Specific requirements, educating on existing features and identifying scalable opportunities to evolve our products.


Planning on Client business

  • Applies MediaCom's System thinking/planning approach by spending 30% of their time working on a client account in a planning capacity.
  • Championing our products in this role where practicable.
  • The client team placement is TBD. MediaCom's client roster includes:  adidas, Coca-Cola (TCCC), Dell, Hasbro, Mars, NBC Universal, P&G, Richemont, Shell, Sony, and Walgreens Boots Alliance.


You will work closely with the Global Programme Director, Global Director of Innovation, Marketing Lead, Global Product Associate Director, User Support & Devops Lead, Project Manager and stakeholders at all levels across the globe.


Reporting into you will be the Global Project Executive, with 40% of their time dedicated to supporting you delivering your product workstreams. The Project Executive will spend the rest of their time supporting Marketing and Comms Lead and User Support & Devops Lead.

Key Areas of Responsibility and Accountability:


Owning the planning workstream for the product team:

  • Driving adoption of the OS: Defining and implementing a plan to onboard and customize the OS for client teams and markets
  • Advising and supporting product users that require strategic planning help as they use our products
  • Developing best practice materials: Addressing planning challenges encountered by users working with our products in the most digestible format; video, written materials etc.
  • Leading global webinars and meetings: Presenting new products/features and training to our Systems Planning Champion community and to our people across the network as we launch new products/features and support existing products.
  • Collaborating on Product Development: Ideation, investigation, analysis, and product testing
  • Supporting new business pitches: Using of Systems Planning Products, including preparations for demonstrations and the creation of pitch materials.
  • Inspiring excellent work Working with Client teams to produce case studies showcasing excellent use of our products so our people can share and reapply.




Key Skillsets:


  • This role requires excellent planning, communication and troubleshooting skills.
  • Success in this role will come from the ability to work collaboratively with our many stakeholders.
  • Extensive planning background and familiarity with the media planning process within a media agency.
  • Experience with media planning products/systems/tools, with knowledge of key international consumer research tools - TGI, Global Web Index etc.
  • Breadth of experience across industry categories.
  • Research background - qualitative and quantitative application of data to aid planning.
  • Be comfortable dealing and presenting to senior global client stakeholders.
  • Positive and passionate approach that motivates the team & champions team.
  • Independently owning and managing relationships confidently.
  • Excellent communicator and presenter, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable with change and a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent Organisational skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple workstreams, and prioritization.
