Amazon's Payment Acceptance and Experience organization is seeking a true product leader, who is passionate about building consumer products that deliver value to our customers. Payments is a deep and complex area at Amazon that will require you to dive deep on how worldwide customers prefer to pay for goods and services and translating those requirements to our CX and Platform teams to develop systems that scale to billions of customers. In this role, you will be working with internal clients, engineering teams and external partners to define innovative payment experiences and scalable solutions that can scale across the company. You will own productizing and evolving existing services to allow Amazon to enable new paying experiences and payment methods at low cost, low time to market and increased agility. Additionally, you will be responsible to influence tech architecture within and outside the company to facilitate next-generation payment experiences across commerce channels (web, mobile, in-store, etc).

This role will require working with and across multiple teams and geographies. This role requires someone who is uncompromising in delivery of high quality, scalable and innovative solutions. The successful candidate will have exemplary program management skills; not only in terms of process, but also in terms of communication skills and organizational agility. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter that can work independently in a fast paced, ambiguous environment with limited supervision. He or she must be a fast learner, who can quickly absorb the nuances of Amazon's varied payment offerings as well as the behavior of Amazon's internal systems. He or she will be analytical in their decision making, with the demonstrated ability to drive issues to completion and have a passion for supplying their clients with data. This position involves regular communication with senior management on status, risks and strategy. Excellent listening, writing skills and strong technical competency are essential.


Key job responsibilities
  • Define a product vision 3-5 years out that improves the customer paying experience for all Amazon customers
  • Align Sr stakeholders across multiple teams to build a personalized experience for customers
  • Create a business model that justifies the investment required to build a new payments capability
  • Work with engineering, data science, design and product marketing on Working Backwards plans to develop the product capability
  • Seek approval and annual investment required to build, launch and maintain payments functionality by leading annual business and product planning mechanisms (OP1, 3YP)
  • Benchmark the Amazon paying CX against the best external competitors at the global and local level; seek feedback from customers and through data analysis to constantly improve the paying CX.
  • Stay plugged-in to the fast-paced fintech space to seek inspiration, actively recruit thought leaders and builders from the best startups and tech companies globally

A day in the life
  • Meet with team's across Amazon to gather input on their unique customer and business needs related to payments.
  • Write customer working backwards plans (eg. PRFAQs) and program updates to align product, engineering, data and design teams on the future vision of the product experience.
  • Deep dive with data scientists and BIEs to uncover data insights to inform the product CX and key input/output metrics for the product.
  • Meet with customers through usability research, customer support calls and other interactions to inform the product roadmap and prioritization.
  • Define the product backlog for a suite of product features; mentor junior product managers and engineers; drive company wide programs as a thought leaders in payments

About the team
The Payments Customer Journey team owns the paying experience globally for Amazon and works across every Amazon business to help raise the bar for the paying CX. We own the payment technology that allows customers to add, save and select their payment method when checking out on , signing up for a subscription like Prime and even paying for an item in Whole Foods with your palm print. The team is a collection of technical product managers, UX designers, data scientists, engineers and many other roles that obsess over building the most intuitive payment experience on Earth.Basic Qualifications
Several years of product management experience with high-quality and large-scale services including customer analysis, market segmentation, KPI management, operational management and roadmap development
Bachelor's degree in business or technical field of study
Strong product management background with finance, technical management, and end customer research experience
Great verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively on shared projects with UX designers, product managers, and other developers
Strong verbal and written communication to C-level executives at Amazon and with external partners
Experience working with physical retail commerce/payments systems will be a major plus
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or Masters in business or technical field preferred
Strong understanding of payments domain and payments industry
Ability to lead, drive consensus and deliver in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders
Proficient with web services, online technologies, virtualization, developer tools, and user interface design
Startup product experience taking a product or business from idea through successful launch with significant customer adoption and starting all over again with a new idea
