Position Expectations

To assist in delivering beyond compliance health and safety performance and to provide timely advice and solutions on health and safety issues associated with site operations and developments.

Key Duties

  • Provide proactive, efficient and professional health and safety advice.
  • Act as an ambassador and drive forward the organisation's safety culture, engaging and empowering colleagues across the business.
  • Assist with the improvement and management of the ISO45001 Safety Management System.
  • Analyse health and safety legislation and update managers of any changes which are relevant to their responsibilities and activities, in order to ensure compliance with statutory safety requirements and best practice.
  • Develop and review health and safety procedures and guidance.
  • Advise on the safety aspects of machinery and work equipment relating to selection, commission, operation and disposal.
  • Undertake comprehensive investigation of accident and incidents as required.
  • Undertake inspections and audits
  • Develop and deliver safety training and engagement initiatives that improves the health and safety performance across site.
  • Maintain and participate in a duty rota system to discharge the listed duties outside of normal working hours.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of five years of dedicated safety experience
  • NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate or equivalent, with willingness to work towards NEBOSH Diploma / NVQ L5 or equivalent in safety management
  • A working knowledge of ISO 45001 standard
  • Detailed knowledge of health and safety legislation and application
  • Undertaking comprehensive accident investigation including root cause analysis
  • Monitoring and auditing of health and safety performance
  • Devising and delivering training programmes
  • High levels of organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Good report writing skills
  • Excellent levels of computer literacy
  • Able to access heights and work on vessels in the harbour environment
  • Full UK Driving Licence
