Senior Software Engineer
Location: Remote, with occasional need to travel to office, therefore must live within 1 hour of DC Metro area, Charlottesville, VA, or Raleigh, VA.
Elder Research Inc. is a Data Science consulting firm specialized in providing analytic solutions to clients in Commercial and Government industries. We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our team! In this position you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deployment, documentation, maintenance, and enhancements of software systems ranging from standalone applications to complex and diverse software systems.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, System Engineering, or a related field is required. Equivalent demonstrated ability may be considered.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position based on government contract requirements.
  • Advanced skills in full stack software development, including web development (JVM, Go, Python).
  • Experience with frontend Single Page Application frameworks (such as angular, react, vue).
  • Experience with Ruby (JRuby) is preferable but not required.
  • Experience with software build tools (e.g., Maven or Gradle), version control (e.g., Git or Mercurial SCM), and CI/CD pipeline technologies (AWS CI/CD experience preferable but not required).
  • Experience with RDBMS & SQL technologies (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server, or other enterprise level RDBMS are acceptable).
  • Experience with cloud services, infrastructure, virtualization, containerization, and deployment/orchestration in AWS.
  • Experience developing and deploying Docker images and containers.
  • Competency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with software project management tools such as the Atlassian Suite (Jira & Confluence), Redmine, Kanboard, or similar tools.
