Not required Essential experience: Care experience, genuine interest in supporting clients with additional needs, non-smoker, right to work in the UK, this role is open to female applicants only Start Date: ASAP Days & Hours: 2-3 shifts per week, Up to 36 hours Pets: No Recruiter: Kamila About this client/child: Sid is a bright and sociable 29-year-old. He enjoys watching Mixed Martial Arts and occasionally goes to watch a match. He is currently studying Economics and Maths at Open University which is his big passion. Sid is a wheelchair user, is ventilator dependent and relies on others with all aspects of personal care and daily living tasks. Sid uses AAC eye-tracking technology, to work his laptop and communicate. He likes interaction and being around people but is also comfortable on his own. You will be able to judge when to step in and when to give him his privacy. Overview of role: As Sid s Support Worker, you ll assist with all aspects of his daily routine; repositioning, providing personal care, administering medication and accompany him to appointments and outings. If working during the night you will regularly taking his temperature and saturation levels. You ll be in the same room as Sid and will be visually alerted to any changes or if Sid requires your assistance, so you will be able to read with a small light or listen to music with headphones. Sid usually sleeps well, and nights are uneventful, but his parents and live-in carer are available to help if needed. You will have use of the family kitchen for tea and coffee etc. The shifts available are either waking nights 8.00pm to 8.00am or day shifts 8.00am to 8.00pm. There is flexibility on which days you work which will be discussed with our client directly. There is the option to also cover staff absences and annual leave. £18.00 gross per hour. Who this job would suit: This job will suit a caring, kind, and reliable female Support Worker looking for a permanent position. You don t need to have complex care experience, but you will have some care experience and be comfortable providing personal care. You will be keen to learn new skills and follow instructions. Comprehensive training is provided by the Senior Support Worker and Sid s parents. You will initially be shadowing the Senior Support Worker until you feel confident and are competent to work independently. This is a permanent position with competitive hourly rate.
