The Global Financial Crimes Investigations and Intelligence's (GFCII) mission is to create an integrated approach to the prevention and detection of financial crime by identifying vulnerabilities and mitigating risks to the bank.  Provide appropriate feedback through strategic analysis and leverage synergies across functions to create a holistic view of financial crimes.

The Global Financial Crimes Investigations and Intelligence unit's expanded mission (e.g., Vulnerable Persons, Cyber Crime, AB&C, Sanctions, AML, Fraud, Cryptocurrency), high-risk geographies and integrated Cyber Crime/Data Intelligence Function will require a synchronized operational approach across the Financial Crimes umbrella.

GFCII's Vulnerable Persons Program (VPP) aims to prevent and detect the financial exploitation of senior or vulnerable clients for the purpose of mitigating risk to the Firm as well as the client. The Program serves to develop and/or enhance frameworks designed to identify, assess, and mitigate risks relating to potential senior or vulnerable adult financial exploitation, or other concerns affecting Citi's senior or vulnerable clients.

The VPP Senior Analyst is responsible for coordinating complex business cases. In this capacity, they will provide leadership and direction to the VPP as they initiate focused investigations concerning significant risks.  In addition, the analyst will assist with state reporting requirements to APS to ensure consistency and tracking in adherence with state and local reporting requirements.

Requirements of this position include the ability to proactively identify and mitigate significant financial crimes risk targeting vulnerable persons through the creation of Special Initiatives designed to capture Citi exposure.  The Senior Analyst conducts multiple investigations and is required to provide critical support throughout the life of the initiative, therefore becoming a de facto manager for the project. The collection of metrics in preparation of feedback to regulators, senior management and relevant stakeholders is required. The GFCII conducts investigations that involve vulnerable clients, these proactive investigations are generated from sources such as reviews of the highest risk clients, ad-hoc searches, business compliance or business referrals, Legal referrals, product-specific developments, industry trends, and referrals from external sources (e.g., law enforcement, regulators, etc.). The GFCII Senior Analyst is responsible for reviewing high-risk customer cases, reviewing the account relationships and related parties holistically to capture global and cross sector presence, conducting research, documenting the investigations, and providing initial recommendations and dispositions of an enterprise-wide customer relationship.  

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Independently conduct complex research and investigations related to elder/vulnerable adult exploitation utilizing internal and external data; analyze research results and conduct complex data analysis applying background knowledge and experience.
  • Analyze and proactively identify elder/vulnerable person risks and concerns through collaboration with the Data Intelligence team and open source information.
  • Prepare written investigative reports and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and recommendation to Adult Protective Services (APS) where appropriate. Make recommendations to senior management on next course of action either relationship retention or termination.
  • Responsible to lead and/or respond to high priority matters involving significant events/negative news initiated by Legal, Law Enforcement and Senior Management and above
  • Act as a mentor to more junior team members globally and ensure a consistent understanding of GFCII's policies and procedures and strategic direction.
  • Design and develop reporting and approaches to provide stakeholders with consistent insight into VPP Program


Qualifications:

  • AML Certification
  • 5-10 years prior work experience in a financial institution with job specific work experience in AML
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills


Education:

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
